San Diego, CA - Families with kids in Southern California are flocking to cabin accommodation at the San Diego KOA for this Memorial Day camping weekend. Demand for Deluxe Cabin style accommodation continues to rise at the San Diego KOA with an 80% increase in reservations from Memorial Day through the end of the year. Demand has been so high in the past three years that five new Deluxe Cabins have been added at the San Diego KOA with more to be built in the coming year.

The growing trend of families all wanting to stay under one roof has driven non-traditional “camping” guests to vacation at the San Diego KOA. Deluxe cabins offer a family experience that is unique from hotels because it brings people together and brings them outside. Deluxe Cabins feature beds with linens for 6, a kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave, a bathroom with towels and toiletries, 2 large flat screen TVs, gourmet K-cup coffee makers, and 300 sqft of a private outdoor experience with picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, and a fire-ring for campfires and marshmallow roasting.

Families with kids have especially enjoyed the amenities offered in deluxe cabins that make traveling more fun during the years when small children and parents enjoy easy access to kitchens, laundry, bathrooms and entertainment. Deluxe Cabins also open up the world of camping to guests who do not own tents or RVs.

Vacationers are staying closer to home with 25% of the San Diego KOA’s Deluxe Cabin guests actually from San Diego and 81% from California.

“Gorgeous landscaping, a full-time activities director, and attractions like the Rock Climbing Wall, the Californian Surf Shack Shootout Game and the Giant Open Lawn make a trip to the San Diego KOA feel like you’ve had a big family getaway-even if you just had a short drive down the coast to get here,” said Clint Bell, GM.
