San Diego --Monday, July 21. Cooking over the open fire has never been so chic, until yesterday afternoon when The San Diego KOA Resort, a three-generation family business in Chula Vista, hosted this summer’s glamour-camping event. The event showcased glamour-camping in several different styles from Deluxe Cabins with bathrooms and kitchens to Safari Tents with furniture, to beautifully landscaped Deluxe RV sites.

Guests were treated to camp cooking demonstrations and samples to taste from Williams-Sonoma and the San Diego KOA Resort’s food and beverage director, Courtney Bell.

"Williams-Sonoma is the essence of hospitality and The San Diego KOA Resort has been delivering world-class hospitality to guests for almost 50-years, so partnering for this glamping event was a natural, " said Bell.

At the Deluxe Cabin watermelon and feta skewers were presented on pink Himalayan salt block platters and Zoku frozen treats were made to order for guests as they toured the Deluxe Cabin displayed with stunning indoor/outdoor table-scapes from Williams-Sonoma. After the tour, John Forrester from North Country San Diego made a reservation for the Deluxe Cabin on the spot.

“My wife isn’t the ‘roughing it type’, but we’re looking for a way to get our 3- and 5-year old daughters to enjoy the outdoors and roast marshmallows around the campfire. Here there is something for everyone in our family, no matter how they like to camp.’

At the Safari Tent, Williams-Sonoma grilled pineapple and chicken skewers on the portable ‘O Grill’ and chili bubbled in the Lodge Dutch Oven suspended over the campfire on a tripod. Jalapeno poppers sizzled on the grill as guests sampled the food, learned camp cooking techniques and shopped for Williams-Sonoma grill ware and grill sauces and seasonings.

Finally, in the event tent guests relaxed with live music and refreshments. The San Diego KOA announced a new onsite restaurant, The Sandcastle Café, offering breakfast, snacks and dinner will open later in the year. It will also offer local beers and wine.

"We never stop innovating, adding new amenities and surprising guests with new ways to enjoy each other and the outdoors," explained Molly Bell Crawford, Director of Fun and Recreation.

The San Diego KOA Resort also offers rustic camping in tents sites and rustic camping cabins. The resort offers a robust summer activities schedule of daily fun for kids and year-round special event weekends such as Fall Festival, Breakfast with Santa, Chocolate Lover’s Weekend and Wellness Weekend geared for both children and adults.
